HUD HQS Forms

Postby Lynn » Fri Jan 22, 2010 8:00 am

Hi All,

One possible feature that has been brought to our attention would be the integration of HUD HQS (Housing Quality Standards) forms.

Although it would be nice to be able to automatically generate completed forms based on HDP inspection input data, it doesn't appear that HDP captures the correct type of information for the report.

We've had suggestions of automatically adding a (blank) copy of the form to a project under attached documents, and I'm curious whether there is any advantage to that or not. Unfortunately, the form does not appear to be able to be saved, which is a setting that the author of the PDF controls.

So, my question is this: is it convienent to be able to bring up a blank copy of the form?

HQS forms are done slightly differently by each agency that I'm familiar with. The ability to save or export a filled out form would be great - like most of the other document functions, the export/save mode is a great benefit for centralized recordkeeping, particularly when using HDP remotely. I'm not sure that access to a blank Word or PDF form would really add anything useful to my life, certainly not as much as could be accomplished with a similar amount of programming time devoted to other priorities.

Others may differ, but that's the way I see it.

Thanks for commenting, Andy. I'm not sure what to make of the fact that no one else has offered an opinion.

You're quite welcome Lynn. I've been thinnking about this since you posted the topic, but for the life of me can't find any usefulness for a blank form within HDP (Most of us have various short and long-form PDF and Word files, tablet-fillable spreadsheets, etc., which can actually be filled in and saved in some cases - if anyone would like a copy please post here and I'll be glad to share via email).

Modifying other documents, saving the modifications, and exporting them via Word or PDF is still the highest priority on my functionality wish list.
